Capture: the mic runs continuously. Say note — or clip, point, review — speak your feedback, then say done. Only the audio between the two words is kept: the app reads the waveform to find where your feedback actually starts, so the trigger word stays out of the clip.

Clipping what just happened: say clip the last play and the row is stamped with the 30 seconds before you spoke, ready for the video editor. After “clip” it waits a couple of seconds for the rest of the command, so you can add a length and a camera: “clip the last 20 seconds camera 3”. Both go straight into the table. Either order works, and any comment you add afterwards is kept as the note.

For clean clips and better recognition: leave a small beat after saying “note” — the cut then lands exactly in that gap. Keep the mic close and out of the wind. Set your headset as the Windows default input: the recogniser always uses the system default, even if you pick a different mic below. And add nicknames for anyone whose name gets mangled — those are matched too.

Filing: the app looks for squad names (including nicknames, surnames and near-misses) and position references (“left back”, “the six”, “our right winger”, “the back four”, “everyone”). Names win over positions. Anything it can't pin down lands in Unassigned.

Working offline: everything except speech recognition is local — recording, trimming, playback, filing, the clip table and the exports all run with no connection. Recognition normally goes to Google's servers, but Chrome 138+ can run it on the device: press Download offline voice under Voice engine while you still have signal, and the trigger words keep working at a pitch with no bars. The indicator in the match bar always tells you which you're on. Without it, going offline costs you the triggers and transcripts only — clips still record with the ● Note button, and typed notes are still filed automatically.

Other limits of a browser build: recognition stops if the tab is backgrounded or the phone screen locks; it can't tell your voice apart from a shouting parent next to you; and everything is held in memory, so a refresh wipes the session.
